The PP has no intention of closing À Punt. “We do not intend to close any television,” replied the deputy spokesman for the PP Miguel Barrachina before Vox’s proposal to cut the broadcasts of the Valencian public radio and television. The popular deputy has made it clear that “the aspiration of the Popular Party and Carlos Mazón is to govern this community alone” and, in this sense, the objective is “to govern alone and maintain all the benefits that exist.” Barrachina has wanted at all times to break the idea that a government of the Generalitat presided over by Carlos Mazón is only possible with the support of the ultra-right.
After the Vox parliamentary group launched a threat to the chain and its workers on Tuesday – “take advantage of what you have left in the convent, we are going to close you” – and that some of its leaders confirmed on Twitter that desire, it does not seem that the leaders of the ultra formation are clear that they will be able to undertake their electoral promise; They know it well in Castilla-León where they hold the vice presidency and the regional channel continues to broadcast with total normality.
This Wednesday, when asked about it, his deputy spokesperson for Vox in Les Corts, José MarÃa Llanos, explained the reasons why this threat has not materialized in other regions where Vox has been key to forming a government: “If we had a single government and Exclusively from Vox, we would directly apply our program, which has not changed from the first minute. If we have to govern with others, then obviously we will have to reach the necessary agreements”.
With everything, and without sparing criticism of the regional chain, Lanos has indicated that his party has always advocated closing the regional chains. “Public television, and especially À Punt, is a television at the sole and exclusive service of the government in power, in this case the government of Mr. Puig.” Thus, he has considered that if television makes “electoral propaganda or partisan propaganda, of course, it does not make sense for it to continue.”
The leader of Vox, who will once again go on the regional lists as number two, has indicated that his party’s proposal involves “promoting private initiative and collaboration between the administration and private companies that today can already give public service”.
