The PP and Vox, which govern the town of Torrent, have agreed to remove the name of Vicent Torrent, a member of Al Tall and a benchmark in Valencian musical history, from the town’s municipal auditorium and recover its previous name, “auditori de Torrent” . In the proposal, the mayoress Amparo Folgado, of the PP, affirms that “the name Auditori Vicent Torrent exposes and compares grievance with respect to other people from the world of Torrentino and Valencian culture, who have investigated our musical legacy and who are equally deserving of similar awards.”

The decision has generated deep indignation in the world of Valencian culture. The leader of the musical group Al Tall is a musicologist and is one of the Valencian artists who has contributed the most to the recovery of traditional Valencian music throughout his career, in addition to being widely awarded by institutions and entities throughout several decades.

According to the opinion of the current local government in a statement, the decision to put the name of Vicent Torrent, adopted by the previous socialist executive with the support of Compromís, did not have the necessary consensus since it did not achieve the unanimity of the Municipal Council of Culture nor the support of the Popular Party, which was the majority force in the opposition.
