The Generalitat Fire Department is working with 98 crews, six of them airborne, on the Portbou (Girona) fire that has been burning in the area since Friday afternoon and has already affected some 500 hectares.

Homes in Colera and Portbou have been evacuated and the municipality of Llançà has been confined “from Cap Ras to Sant Carles”, reports the Ministry of the Interior in a tweet.

The fire that continues this Saturday active and without control has left the residents of this municipality without electricity or water, and also part of them without telephone or internet.

Sources from the Endesa company have told EFE that the fire has affected a medium voltage line that supplies the towns of Portbou, Llançà and Colera, which has left some 4,000 subscribers without electricity.

The mayor of Portbou, Gael Rodríguez, has explained for his part that this fire has affected the basic supplies of the town, and that they are currently trying to find a solution to recover the services.

The mayor has asked the residents for “calm and serenity”, and is confident that the situation will return to normal as soon as possible.

The strategy of the Generalitat Bombers prioritizes minimizing fire from the right flank as much as possible and ensuring that the head ends up reaching the sea.
