The president of the Port of Tarragona, Saül Garreta, participated this Friday in the act of constitution of the commission to promote the Catalunya Sud intermodal terminal in Tortosa (Tarragona), explaining the infrastructure in a statement this Friday.

The commission is made up of the Territorial Department of the Generalitat, the Port of Tarragona, the Port of Barcelona and Cimalsa, among other institutions, and the new station must allow “greater connectivity of the territory” with the two port enclaves.

The future intermodal terminal would be located in the Polígono Catalunya Sud and would serve the companies in this industrial space in “a context in which the demand is already existing.”

Garreta explained that the Port of Tarragona is “especially interested in collaborating” with Terres de l’Ebre (Tarragona) to take advantage of its geostrategic position and business opportunities.

He added that “all the companies that come interested in working with the Port of Tarragona ask for railways”, which is why he underlined the need to have modern railway infrastructure.
