The National Police is investigating a complaint of sexual abuse and harassment of a 13-year-old girl, a student at IES Cardenal Herrera Oria in Madrid, who later had to be admitted to a psychiatric unit due to her serious risk situation (suicide attempt, self-harm, depression, and refusing to eat).
Her father, Julio Sánchez, a fictitious name to preserve his privacy and that of his youngest daughter, explains to EFE that the sexual assault occurred a few months ago in the high school bathroom when two classmates (2nd grade) cornered her in the bathroom. , they locked the latch, stripped her naked and sexually assaulted her.
“She comes out crying, but she goes into shock, doesn’t react and isn’t able to tell what happened” until much later. The aggression was added to the bullying that the girl had been suffering for a long time by these two students, also 13 years old, she adds.
In her personal diary, the minor recounts the mistreatment and constant insults to the point that “she heard voices telling her to kill yourself,” explains Sánchez.
According to sources from the Department of Education of the Community of Madrid, the National Police is investigating the facts, and the educational center initiated a protocol that “remains open.”
In addition, the girl’s family was offered a change of center for the current school year and the Home Educational Support Service (SAED), given the student’s inability to attend class.
As stated in the minutes of the IES Cardenal Herrera Oria, signed by its director and dated May 11, 2023, “there are not enough indications at the moment or they are not conclusive. It is decided to prolong the investigations with observation records.”
What the girl suffered led to a suicide attempt, self-harm, she stopped eating and weighed 39 kilos, she had permanent fear, depression, anxiety, anger and panic to return to the educational center, for which she had to be admitted to La Peace and then for a month in a psychiatric clinic, explains the father.
“Despite all this, the institute continued without doing anything, it slammed the door and they did not notify social services either. This center has had and has several more cases of harassment, but they hide it,” denounces the father, who before the attack already She observed bruises and wounds that the girl justified by practicing sports and that she now acknowledges were being pushed and hit by her stalkers.
The little girl, whose attackers forced her to send them nude photos of herself under extortion, according to her father, currently takes five pills a day and studies at home because “she doesn’t want to see those kids, who continue to lead their normal lives, don’t have no worries”.
On the other hand, he concludes, “the police tell me that they are unimputable children (since they are minors), they will get their attention and nothing else. I wonder why they don’t separate them from the center when there is still an investigation underway, but they haven’t done nothing, deaf ears.”
