The candidate of Unides Podem – Esquerra Unida for the City Council of Valencia, Pilar Lima, has presented this Wednesday a complaint in the City of Justice of Valencia, before the Prosecutor’s Office of Valencia for crimes of hate and discrimination in the program El Hormiguero, presented by Pablo Motos, “after the mockery carried out in his program attacking his status as a deaf person and the LGTBIQ group”.

In a statement, the regional coordinator of Podem also explained that “I present this complaint not only for myself, but to stand up to a media power that sends out very dangerous messages, and that is if you are deaf, lesbian, if you are a person who It does not enter the canon of some who consider that you are not capable and that you can be the object of ridicule”. For the candidate for mayor, the words of El Hormiguero “are the basis of bullying at school, they are the basis of violence against groups on the street, in the networks and in all areas, and that is intolerable.”

As explained by the formation, the complaint is being processed through the office specialized in cases of hate crimes, Olympe Albogados, whose manager, Isaac Guijarro, has accompanied Lima in the presentation of the complaint. Guijarro has highlighted that “crimes against fundamental rights are observed in article 510 of the Criminal Code, in its three modalities, and crimes against moral integrity in article 173 et seq. of the Penal Code and for this reason natural persons Pablo Motos Burgos are denounced, Miguel Lago Valtierra and the legal entities 7 y Acción, S.L. and Atresmedia Corporación de Medios de Comunicación, S.A.”.

Lima has the great challenge of trying to get Unides Podem to return to the Valencia City Council, from which it was left out in 2019, when the vote was concentrated in Compromís, which was the force with the most votes. Few surveys give him options to reach that 5% necessary to have representation in the consistory, although the controversy with the well-known television program has given him a role that until now he did not have. From Unides Podem they have even made t-shirts to vindicate the profile of their candidate for Mayor-

It is not the first complaint about this controversy. As La Vanguardia explained, last week the General Directorate for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office the “mockery made about the Podemos candidate” for mayor of Valencia.
