This series of photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia show the hermitage of Sant Ramon de Sant Boi de Llobregat, in Baix Llobregat, with the sun behind it. The images have been captured from Sant Joan Despí.
This hermitage is located at the top of the mountain, known as Montbaig, where a Landscape Interpretation Center was set up, which is open on weekends. One of the attractions is that, at 289 meters high, you can enjoy splendid views of the Llobregat Delta.
Previously, this mountain was known as La Fita, since it was the division of the three neighboring municipalities (Sant Boi de Llobregat, San Climent de Llobregat and Viladecans). In fact, the last weekend of August a meeting of the three towns is organized.
The style of the chapel is of neo-Romanesque inspiration, it was built by Josep Estruch i Comella in memory of his parents, Eulàlia Comella and Ramon Estruch i Ferrer, patrons of the chapel.
It consists of three bodies, of which only the central one is the church itself, whose interior was destroyed in 1936 at the beginning of the Civil War.
The dedication of the hermitage is that of Sant Ramon Nonat, the patron saint of newborns, to the point that it is still customary, on the part of some parents, to carry votive offerings up to the hermitage and put a candle to Sant Ramon.
