On March 27 and 28, the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested three people, two 18-year-old men and a minor, accused of having stolen a bicycle from former cyclist Miguel Induráin valued at 6,500 euros, which they recovered and returned to the winner. of five Tours this Friday.
As reported by the Generalitat Police, in the early morning of March 18 in La Pineda, in Vila-seca (Tarragona), there were two robberies with force inside the vehicle and damage to two other cars, all parked in the same zone.
The agents were able to verify that the three individuals broke a window of each vehicle to search for valuable objects inside, and in one of the cases, a van, the alleged perpetrators stole a bicycle valued at 6,500 euros, property of the famous cyclist.
The police efforts and the collection of information by the Mossos allowed the identification of the alleged perpetrators, one of them, with a history of similar events.
Once the perpetrators were identified, agents from the Urban Crime Group at the Salou police station (Tarragona) arrested them during a preventive measure in the La Pineda beach area.
Around 10:30 p.m. on March 27, plainclothes officers saw two men who, with a vigilant attitude, were carrying a bicycle along Amadeu Vives Street.
The Mossos quickly identified themselves as police officers and, although both individuals tried to flee and showed resistance, the agents intercepted and detained them, and also confiscated a knife.
The Catalan police were able to verify that the bicycle they had with them was the one that had been stolen days before.
The next day, the agents carried out the third arrest, in this case of a minor, who also participated in the abductions.
This Friday, the Mossos d’Esquadra handed over the stolen bicycle to its owner, the cyclist Miguel Induráin, who when the theft occurred was in La Pineda with his team to prepare for the Titan Desert Morocco 2024 race, which will be held between the April 28 and May 3.
The two adult detainees were handed over to the Tarragona investigative court on March 28, while the minor was brought before the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
