The Mont Plans actress has won the 49th Margarida Xirgu theater award for her performance in the play Cadires, by Albert Arribas, a tribute to the theatrical profession since old age, which she performed with Oriol Genís at the Goya theater in Barcelona and other theaters of Catalonia.
This award, which has distinguished since 1973 the most relevant female performer of the Barcelona theater season, has been awarded since last year by the Federation of Amateur Theater Groups of Catalonia (FGTAC) and the cultural magazine Núvol, in conjunction with Molins City Council de Rei, the Romea Foundation and the Theater Institute.
Mont Plans thus joins the list of great Catalan actresses who have received the award, such as Núria Espert, Anna Lizaran, Mercè Arànega, Clara Segura, Emma Vilarasau or Imma Colomer.
When awarding her the prize, the jury highlighted the versatility of the actress, “who makes the most difficult thing seem easy, simply being on stage”.
The award ceremony will take place on July 17 at a gala to be held at the Romea theater in Barcelona. It so happens that Mont Plans will be interpreting the work by Sergi Belbel Lali Symon in that same room, together with Emma Vilarasau and Júlia Bonjoch, which begins performances this Saturday, July 1.
