The Ministry of Ecological Transition has begun this week the first phase of the stabilization of the beaches in the center of Premià de Mar (Maresme) between the mouth of the port and the breakwater in front of the train station. The work will involve an investment that will exceed five million euros and is classified as priority one.

The project provides for a stable beach 65 meters wide on a stretch of 860 meters of coastline. To do this, the surface breakwater will be extended to 130 meters, which will end in an L shape and turn in the direction of Barcelona for another 50 meters. The same jetty will extend 135 meters further below the surface.

The action also includes another breakwater in front of l’Òs beach parallel to the coast, which will form a submerged islet 65 meters long that will protrude 1.5 meters above sea level, some 75 meters from the beach. In addition, 350,000 cubic meters of sand that now accumulates inland, next to El Masnou, will be extracted and will be transferred to the beaches of Bellamar and Pla de l’Ós, which will make it possible to have 65 meters of beach.
