Carlos Mazón announced it during the electoral campaign and yesterday the new Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, verbalized it at the inauguration of his position: an audit of the entire public health system is going to be carried out and, later, “we will adopt decisions” that, he added, “will be carried out without sectarianism”. Gómez did not want to specify in what sense, he only pointed out that “we will seek excellence and efficiency” in management.
The Valencian president defined this medical professional on Wednesday as a “driver in health management for the implementation of public-private collaboration for efficiency in public health and the regulations that regulate medical guards, both in the field of primary care and in hospitals currently in force”.
He was referring to the minister who was part of the first executive of Eduardo Zaplana and helped design the first case in Spain of a public hospital managed by a private company. A model, which was called “Alzira” because it was in that population where it was tested for the first time, which was soon extended to the entire health department of the La Ribera region (health centers, in addition to the hospital), as well as the areas of Dénia, Elche, Torrevieja and Manises.
The Botanic began to reverse this “Alzira model”. In fact, the health departments of the Dénia and Manises hospitals are currently in the process of recovery for public management, and the health areas and hospitals of Alzira and Torrevieja, reverted in the years 2018 and 2021, had already been reverted to the Valencian public system.
