Yesterday, the Valencia Activa Foundation held a conference titled ‘Leadership with values’, the inaugural conference of which was given by Vox deputy in Congress Carlos Flores Juberías in his role as professor of Constitutional Law. A session that was closed, among others, by Juan Carlos Girauta, now a Vox candidate for the European elections, and which replaced the female leadership sessions of the previous executive, with criticism from the opposition and evident discomfort in the popular part of the Government.
In the midst of this controversy and in the face of the movements of her partners to cut the money allocated through this public foundation for active employment policies specific to women, the mayor of Valencia has made the decision to counteract her fellow travelers.
Thus, by order of María José Catalá herself, it has been decided to allocate 180,000 euros of the 2023 surplus to female leadership policies and initiatives to promote the labor insertion of women, in a more precarious situation than men according to all statistics. .
Municipal sources have explained to La Vanguardia that the mayor asked to make a calculation of the money that Valencia Activa would stop allocating to these gender policies in order to compensate it. Valencia Activa is an entity in charge of promoting employment, training and entrepreneurship among unemployed people in the city of Valencia.
Thus, the Equality Service will receive 180,000 euros for active employment policies. “The promotion of Equal opportunities between men and women and the reduction of the wage gap are priority objectives of the City Council and are part of many of the transversal actions of all areas of municipal management,” said the Councilor for the Treasury, María José. Ferrer San Segundo.
They explain from the City Council that the money from the surplus is usually allocated to issues such as cleaning, personnel or public transportation (in fact, this is what the majority of the 60 million achieved after the closing of the 2023 budget year will be spent). However, on this occasion, the popular part of the local government wanted to compensate for the refusal of its partners to allocate aid directly to female employment.
In fact, as this newspaper explained, Vox decided to change the founding purposes of Valencia Activa to eliminate the word woman to guarantee “equal opportunities in access to the labor market are extended to all people and groups with greater integration difficulties, with regardless of their condition, race, age or sex.”
