“We have spent a very hard night because the municipality was surrounded by fire. From here I congratulate the Firefighters for the work they have done so that the flames did not enter the urban area.” The worried and tired voice of the mayor of Colera has served to calibrate the concern experienced in the municipality after the forest fire declared yesterday in Portbou (Girona).
Lluís Bosch has appeared this morning in various media such as RAC1 and RTVE where he has related the hell he experienced: “After the night of extreme risk with Colera completely surrounded by flames, we can say that the situation is stabilized and in a few hours We hope this fire is a thing of the past.”
The Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, has also witnessed first-hand the voracity of the flames after going to the control center set up by the Generalitat Fire Department in Llançá to follow first-hand the evolution of the special operation.
“We know that the fire has not been declared due to natural causes, and we have located its start”, he declared before insisting on controlling the right flank of the flame front: “We will continue working all day today with great intensity”.
The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, for his part, has expressed his gratitude to “all the public servants” who work on the forest fire declared on Friday in Portbou (Girona). “The fight against the flames continues this morning,” he said this Saturday in a tweet.
“The fire has already burned more than 400 hectares and these are complicated and very hard times for the residents of Portbou and Colera,” he added.
