The Consell Comarcal del Maresme and the Department of the Interior promoted, in 2022, a pilot test for the unified selection of local police officers and the creation of a pool of interim personnel to fill vacancies. This inter-administrative collaboration initiative, a pioneer in Catalonia, has been a complete success and in 2024 the experience will be repeated to respond to the needs of the Maresme municipalities.
The plenary session of the council unanimously approved the agreements with the town councils and regulatory bases that will govern the joint selection of 11 local police officers who will carry out their functions in six municipalities of Maresme. In addition, the applicants who pass the tests and do not obtain a place will become part of a pool of interim personnel that will be managed by the Department of the Interior to cover, for a period of two years, any vacancies that nine town councils in Maresme may have. .
Taking into account the complexity of the selection process and the objective that the selected people can join the course of the Escola de Policia de Catalunya next October, the Consell Comarcal has opened the call for the selection of applicants.
Two of the people who win the place will exercise their functions as local police in Argentona, two will be assigned to El Masnou, one in Premià de Dalt, another in Teià, two in Vilassar de Dalt and three in Vilassar de Mar.
These councils will also be able to use the temporary staff grant to cover their municipal police needs, just like those of Caldes d’Estrac, Canet de Mar and Sant Vicenç de Montalt.
On this occasion, the Maresme Regional Council also has the technical assistance of both the Department of the Interior, through the General Directorate of Local Police Coordination, and the Public Safety Institute of Catalonia.
