The 20-year-old man arrested last Saturday for allegedly stabbing another in the Cadiz municipality of Chipiona is now brought to justice, according to sources from the Civil Guard to Europa Press.

The alleged perpetrator of the events remains in police stations, waiting to be brought before the courts, since he was arrested this Saturday for stabbing a 24-year-old man, known in the municipality for being a soccer player for Chipiona F.C.

The events occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, when a man attacked the soccer player by inserting a large knife into his chest. The victim was transferred first to the Sanlúcar de Barrameda Hospital and then to the Jerez de la Frontera Hospital, but due to the seriousness of the injuries he had to be taken by helicopter to the Puerta del Mar Hospital in Cádiz, where he died around 02:30 a.m. in the early hours of this Sunday.

The Chipiona City Council has decreed three days of mourning for the death of Paco, “a highly appreciated young man with his whole life ahead of him”, as the Consistory’s Facebook statement reads. “A misfortune that has shocked us all and that makes us totally sad,” he adds.

In addition, the mayor of the town, Luis Mario Aparcero, has shown his rejection of any act of violence and has transferred “his pain and regret and the highest condolences to all his family, friends and colleagues.”
