Since this week, the Local Police of Santa Coloma de Gramanet (Barcelonès Nord) has incorporated new technical tools to improve the equipment of the officers. These are medal and tablet detector gloves to improve identification on the streets.
Among the novelties, stands out the acquisition of metal detector gloves that carry a device in the palm that alerts agents through a powerful vibration about the possible presence of metallic objects during the search of a suspect, such as knives, knives or even Firearms. These new devices will allow the police to quickly detect the presence of metallic objects hidden between clothing and are very useful for carrying out superficial searches, since with this new tool, physical contact will no longer be necessary for detection, for example. of edged weapons.
In addition to metal detector gloves, the Local Police has also incorporated digital computer tablets this week. These devices will allow agents to speed up identification tasks on public roads, since they will be able to consult any necessary data in real time without having to first contact the control room, as until now.
The mayor of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Núria Parlon, considers that the implementation of these new tools represents “a technical advance for local police officers that will also contribute to offering more efficient, closer and faster attention to citizens.” For the first mayor, the modernization of the technical tools of the Local Police are key aspects to “continue to improve security and police effectiveness in our city” highlighting the importance of incorporating technological advances into the daily life of the police to “strengthen the response capacity and to anticipate new security challenges.”
