The National Police have arrested in Lloret de Mar one of the leaders of a drug trafficking gang from Marseille who was wanted by French justice for the attempted murder of a woman belonging to a rival criminal organization.

The events occurred last April in the French region of Aix-en-Provence. After the arrest of three of the perpetrators of this assassination attempt, those arrested confirmed that they acted in the context of a war that had been taking place between two rival drug trafficking clans in Marseille.

According to those in charge of the French police investigation, the fugitive detained in Lloret de Mar is one of the top leaders of one of the criminal groups fighting for hegemony of drug trafficking in the city of Marseille. He is also held responsible for being the instigator of other murders of people linked to rival clans.

The fugitive, who faces life imprisonment among other penalties, was hiding in a home in Lloret de Mar with his romantic partner. Agents from the local police station of the National Police of Lloret de Mar together with the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police of Barcelona focused their surveillance work on the fugitive’s romantic partner.

The police report was submitted to the authorities of the Blanes court, who authorized the entry and search of the home where the detainee’s partner lived. The Special Operations and Security Group participated in the operation, which ended with the arrest of the fugitive.
