The final count of attendees confirmed what was perceived from the beginning, when a great atmosphere was already breathed in the Gran Via fairgrounds: Seafood, the largest trade fair dedicated to seafood, has made history at Fira de Barcelona. As reported by the organization this Thursday, closing day, more than 33,000 professionals from the sector have passed through the pavilions of l’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The event has “broken all-time records in terms of exhibition space, number of companies and total attendance in its second year in Barcelona,” they reported.

“It has been a very busy and productive three days, full of opportunities for those responsible for the marine industry,” said Diversified Communications USA President Liz Plizga. “The unprecedented number of visitors, together with a record in the exhibition space, continue to position Seafood as the unmissable global event for the seafood industry,” added the head of the company organizing the fair.

Plizga explained that “exhibitors and visitors have conveyed their great satisfaction with the exhibition space, with the content and with the city of Barcelona”. Thus, everything indicates that the global event will continue for many more years in the Catalan capital.

In total, 2,078 companies from 87 different countries participated in the show, which in its 29th edition exceeded the attendance of last year by 24%, when it was held in Fira. They estimate that they have an impact of 150 million in the city and its metropolitan area.

As they did last year, Seafood once again collaborated with Banc dels Aliments, gathering approximately 14,000 kilos of fish and shellfish that will go to the most needy people.

The next edition of Seafood, which will be number 30, will take place from April 23 to 25, 2024 for the third time at Fira de Barcelona.
