The leadership of Junts per Catalunya has demanded that Parliament member Cristina Casol hand over her membership certificate and threatens her with expulsion from the party if she does not do so, so that she would move to the mixed group.

The decision adopted by the permanent management of the training, advanced by El Periódico, was taken yesterday after the report of the Chamber’s equality office, following the mandatory investigation in which an external company with independent experts also participates, concluded that the facts reported by Casol, who claimed that she suffered discrimination in the group and “harassment based on gender,” are not recorded.

Casol activated the Parliament’s protocol in November, before fellow deputy Aurora Madaula, second secretary of the Board and vice president of the party, assured from the lectern of the chamber during an event held on the occasion of 25-N that she had suffered “silent violence.” ” by his “comrades” in the parliamentary group. The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, publicly denied last week that there was discrimination based on gender within JxCat and various voices consulted have always attributed this entire matter to political discrepancy. It so happens that both Casol and Madaula, who has been on leave since before Christmas, are part of the close circle of the party president, Laura Borràs.

The complaints from Casol and Madaula created a lot of discomfort in the training and the leaking of the report and the case of Casol, which had to be kept in the strictest confidentiality as stated in the protocol, both the complaint and the result of the investigation, aggravated the anger in depending on which JxCat cadres, who attribute all this to a strategy to wear down the leadership of the parliamentary group, led by Albert Batet and Mònica Sales, two deputies who fall into the most pragmatic sector and related to Turull.

The next step is to see what happens; see what Madaula does, on the one hand, and what decision Casol makes, on the other. And if all this widens the gap between the two souls of Junts and has consequences beyond those figures. In fact, the president of the Parliament, Anna Erra, had asked Madaula before the Christmas break to leave her responsibilities to the governing body of the Chamber. Other sources consulted defended that Erra has the right to have a deputy whom she trusts for the Board, just like Borràs, when she was president, she was able to choose her dance partner in that body.

There are those who believe that sooner or later this whole issue is going to be unsustainable and believe that it is better that there be a split now if it must occur, although the management headed by Turull until now had always avoided making decisions in the heat and opted for tempering spirits, always trying to ensure that there is no rupture in the party.

Madaula was pending to present a letter to the JxCat guarantees commission about the complaint of “silent violence” that he made against his “comrades” in the parliamentary group, an accusation that, on the other hand, 22 deputies denied in a letter. At first, the vice president of the post-convergent formation was given ten days to argue and then she was given another seven, as she was on leave, but Madaula, in the end, refused to present said document and expressed her distrust of the guarantee body. , so he plans to resort to other means to channel his complaint, according to sources consulted. In any case, that matter has been put on hold and the leader has avoided making public statements since the controversy emerged.

At the meeting of the national council that was held last Saturday in El Morell (Tarragonès) there was a leader who, when speaking, asked that Madaula resign, but everything stopped there and there was nothing more, although the possibility of registering a resolution to express discomfort. What there was, which at the end of the day is the same, were comments of support for Erra and the group’s management.
