The investigation opened following the new fire recorded this Monday in the Devesa de El Saler, in the Albufera de València natural park, suggests that the fire was intentional, like an attempt recorded in the area last Sunday. The forest fire was stabilized early this Tuesday after burning 14 hectares.
This was indicated this Tuesday by the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, when asked about it after the Local Security Board held in the Valencian town hall for Las Fallas.
“We can confirm that both” a “small attempt that occurred last Sunday and” with “the latter everything indicates that it has been intentional,” said Bernabé. Likewise, he has said that the Civil Guard, through Seprona, appeared this Tuesday morning at the scene of the fire to begin the investigations.
“The Civil Guard has been investigating for a long time and is collecting all the evidence. The investigation is still underway and will continue to do so,” added the delegate. Likewise, she has asserted that “the entire process” referring to the fires recorded in recent months in the Devesa de El Saler “is judicialized” and has stated that “the Civil Guard reports all the information to the court.”
For her part, the mayor of València, María José Catalá, who appeared alongside Pilar Bernabé after the Local Security Board, commented that the City Council, “which is involved in the case”, has requested this Tuesday from the court that ” “geolocation work” is carried out in the area around the fire and that the corresponding investigation “contributes to the cause.”
“It rains on wet and when it rains on wet there comes a point where measures must be taken,” Catalá stressed in reference to the fire this Monday and those registered in recent months in La Devesa. Next, he has asked for “forcefulness” in the face of what is happening in El Saler “because what is happening is already too much.”
The first mayor explained that “during the night about 30 firefighters from the Valencia City Council worked” in the area of ??the fire and she thanked them “enormously for their work, their dedication and their dedication”, as did “all of them”. the collaborators and all the people who are helping in this tragic situation that we are experiencing in El Saler”. She has thus alluded to “the Civil Guard, the Local Police and Civil Protection.”
“They have helped us, they helped us yesterday to evacuate all the people from the towers” of buildings that had to be evacuated from the surroundings of the fire, said the municipal official, who has specified that the people who had to leave their homes have not could still return “because it is dangerous due to the amount of smoke that is still in the area.”
Catalá has detailed, regarding the people who were evicted, “only one required the attention or service that was enabled for anyone who needed” accommodation. “Thanks to the El Saler parador we had planned a series of rooms that were made available to us,” he said.
