French motorcycle manufacturer Dab Motors has just launched its first production electric motorcycle. And it has done so under the umbrella of the Peugeot brand which, seeing what businessman Simon Dabadie’s team promised, acquired the startup just a year ago.
With features that place it in the high range of electric motorcycles, the Dab 1? is a cutting-edge motorcycle that will revolutionize the future of two-wheeled urban mobility. The main hallmarks of the Dab 1? are an innovative combination of lightness, luxury, power and neo-retro design that make it an agile and easy motorcycle to ride both in the city and on interurban roads.
Weighing only 125 kg thanks to a steel chassis and a monocoque body with forged carbon components made from recycled Airbus fiber, its engine can reach a maximum power of 25.5 kW, allowing it to travel at a speed up to 130 km/h. The swingarm, made of cast aluminum, also contributes to the aforementioned general lightness.
A strong point of the Dab 1? is its fully recyclable, removable and easily repairable battery. It is a 72-volt, 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that ensures a range of 150 km per charge. It can be fully recharged in about 3.5 hours from a normal household socket and is also compatible with type 2 fast charging points using an adapter.
This electric motorcycle does not have gears or a clutch, which makes its maintenance simplified. It has four driving modes and one reverse gear to adapt to all types of users and needs. This, together with the transmission belt designed between Dab and Gates Carbon, ensures a smooth and pleasant driving experience.
Another premium detail is found in the adjustable golden suspension developed in collaboration with the Italian brand Paioli. The motorcycle is equipped with 17-inch wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tires, with dimensions 120/70 R17 at the front and 150/60 R17 at the rear. The vehicle features Peugeot Motorcycles’ dual ABS system and comes with Brembo brakes on both wheels.
Among the technology it incorporates we also find a 2.8-inch LCD screen located on the dashboard, control buttons on the handlebars inspired by video games, such as Nitro blue for an extra contribution of features. You can choose the body in white or gray, it includes a 3.4-liter glove box and visibility is assured with its LED lighting strips.
Only 400 units of the Dab 1? will be produced at Peugeot facilities, and it will be sold at a price of 14,900 euros. In the video that accompanies this article you can obtain more details of this new proposal for sustainable two-wheeled mobility.
