The Catalan pro-independence activists (ERC, Junts, PDeCAT and the CUP) have registered in the Congress of Deputies a request for the appearance of the presidents of Òmnium, Xavier Antich, and Amnesty i Llibertat, Daniel Villalaín, before the Constitutional Commission of the Chamber for give an account of their motivations for calling for a new amnesty law.

These entities of the Catalan civil society presented on June 22, 2021 in the registry of Congress, in exercise of the right of petition and accompanied by more than 200,000 signatures, a request to process a proposal for an organic law of Amnesty for ” the resolution of political conflict in Catalonia and the Spanish State that reaches all the acts of political intention classified as crimes, administrative or disciplinary infractions with a motive of defense of public liberties, social rights or the claim and exercise of the right to self-determination and the independence of Catalonia”.

Amnesty is one of the two pillars on which the Government of the Generalitat bases the resolution of the political conflict and is one of the demands that the Government of Pere Aragonès makes at the dialogue table with the Executive of Pedro Sánchez, which has denied repeatedly the possibility that it could see the light when understanding that it does not fit in the Constitution.
