An aurora borealis has been visible tonight in the skies of much of Spain, and the world. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) confirmed this morning that “polar auroras are being observed at very low latitudes in the northern hemisphere, including Spain” and that “there are many photographs that attest to this.”

A strong geomagnetic storm this weekend has brought a dazzling display of northern lights that could be seen in much of the world. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States has warned that this is the strongest storm in the last 20 years, causing the phenomenon to be visible at much lower geomagnetic latitudes than usual.
