Summer is knocking on the door and it is the moment when aquatic “toys” of all kinds begin to appear in the seas. And we are not only referring to jet skis or other motorized alternatives accessible to many, but also to boats and superyachts within the reach of a few. Whether just to dream or for lovers of navigable sophistication, today we are approaching the spectacular Checkmate custom boat (translation of checkmate) from the prestigious Italian boat firm Benetti.

Despite having been launched a decade ago, she is one of the most recent yachts in the Benetti Vision 145 line. She has the hull number 15 out of a total of only 17 units built. At just over 44 meters in length, the Checkmate is a little short of the (unofficial) 50-meter length typically used to address superyachts. However, she fits perfectly into this category in every other way, be it the striking design of her or the extraordinary performance of her.

The boat also boasts a 100% Italian DNA: it was designed by the renowned Stefano Righini and has a luxurious interior designed by Zuretti Interior Design. Its owner was involved from the very beginning in the yacht design process and differentiated it from the rest of the units with customizations and distinctive elements.

As a great fan of chess, he named it with the name it has worn since 2013 and included, among other nods to his passion, a large chess table that occupies a central place in the main room. This one also features black and white details, as well as a ladder that also features discreet decorations based on this board game.

Bespoke elements of the glamorous ship include the bridge upper deck chill-out (half meter longer than her rangemates) and aft doors, which open to create a beautiful al fresco dining space with 270 degree views.

The split-level master suite, typically found on much larger yachts, is another feature. In addition to a spacious sleeping stateroom, it also provides access to a private deck that doubles as a secluded outdoor lounging area with plush seating and the best views.

Special attention was also paid to the rest of the guests on board, as different types of marble were installed for the bathroom in each cabin. In fact, precious Italian marble is one of the hallmarks of this ultra-glamorous yacht, along with the extensive use of cherry wood.

The four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, with flexible configurations. The Checkmate can accommodate more than ten guests and also includes five separate cabins for up to nine crew members.

The terrace is equally spectacular. Its main attraction is the circular jacuzzi, flanked by cozy solariums. An additional bathroom was also included in this area for added comfort, which is not normally found here on similar yachts.

As for its performance, it can sail the seas over great distances thanks to its two Caterpillar diesel engines, which propel it at a cruising speed of 13 knots (24 km/h). State of the art additions include internet access, zero speed stabilizers and a selection of small water ‘toys’.

This spectacular Benetti Vision 145 is currently for sale for a price of 15 million euros. If you want to delight yourself with the interior of a unit from the same series to get an idea of ??what this model can offer, be sure to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
