The iconic phrase that Almeida sewed on his morning suit for his wedding day

José Luis Martínez-Almeida and Teresa Urquijo said “yes, I want” this past Saturday, April 6, in a religious ceremony held at 12:00 p.m. in the Parish of the Sacred Heart and San Francisco de Borja, located in the Madrid neighborhood of Salamanca.

After the wedding mass, the more than 600 guests and the newlyweds headed to the El canto de la Cruz farm, an idyllic enclave located in the municipality of Colmenar Viejo, about forty-five minutes from the capital, and owned by the grandparents of Teresa Urquijo, Teresa de Borbón-Dos Sicilias and Íñigo Moreno de Arteaga, marquises of Laserna.

The celebration, which has been one of the most talked about current affairs this past weekend, continues to generate a lot of interest, so the information related to what is undoubtedly one of the great weddings of the year does not stop. On Monday afternoon, the Sonsoles Ónega program interviewed exclusively Cristina Martínez-Pardo Cobián, founder of Navascués and the creator of Teresa Urquijo’s aforementioned wedding dress.

”The mayor of Madrid calls me directly. I am a cousin of Almeida’s mother,” he began by saying. Regarding the ceremony and the banquet, the designer assured that the politician was quite nervous. ”It was a fun wedding,” she stressed. As for the famous wedding dress, which she had initially worn by her grandmother, Teresa de Borbón-Dos Sicilias, the designer said that the wife of the mayor of Madrid had opted for a straighter line. ”She wanted a long, puffy sleeve to have more movement,” she explained.

Following this information, the journalist and collaborator Isabel González said that the Navascués brand had also been in charge of making the suits for the groom’s sisters. Furthermore, the collaborator assured that at the ceremony Almeida’s family showed off their athletic spirit: ”The anthem of Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid was sung as well.”

Moments later, Paloma García-Pelayo revealed that the mayor of Madrid had worn an embroidery on his morning suit related to the red and white team and that said “never stop dreaming.” As the journalist explained, the famous phrase was also closely related to the mayor’s late mother. ”She told him that one should not abandon one’s dreams, that one should always continue, persist, over and over again. And never stop believing. “She adapts very well to Atleti’s motto,” she noted. ”It must be said that Diego Pablo Simeone was at the wedding with his wife and they were very affectionate with them,” Beatriz Cortázar said.
