The five films nominated for a Goya, Alcarràs, La Maternal, Cinco lobitos and Modelo 77, have deflated in 2023 in movie theaters, with the exception of As Bestas, which is nominated for Best Director, and which has managed to increase its collection at 656,614 euros, making a total of 4.18 million euros in the eleven weeks it has been at the box office. Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s film has so far gathered 101,717 new viewers this year, according to provisional data from the Ministry of Culture and Sports up to January 22 collected by Europa Press.

As bestas, which has 17 nominations, has been seen by a total of 658,055 viewers, since its premiere on November 11. After Sorogoyen’s film is Alcarràs, the recent winner of Best Film at the Gaudí Awards, which has raised a total of 2.33 million euros in 39 weeks (it premiered on April 29). In 2023, this film has collected 4,238 euros in theaters, after receiving the visit of 691 viewers, which added to the attendees in 2022 makes a total of 392,078.

In third place, Modelo 77 has reaped a total of 2.1 million euros after its premiere on September 23, 2022. In these 18 weeks, Alberto Rodríguez’s project has added 1,129 euros in theaters in 2023 with the visit of 157 viewers, who make a total of 387,931 attendees since its premiere.

It follows Cinco Lobitos, released 36 weeks ago (on May 20) adds a total of 825,813 euros collected at the box office, of which, 1,880 euros have been registered in 2023 thanks to 411 attendees. This film has a total of 136,043 viewers.

In last place, taking box office and viewers into account, is La Maternal by Pilar Palomero, which has had a growth of 8,763 euros in 2023 and makes a total of 195,166 euros since its premiere on November 18 (10 weeks). The film has gathered 33,539 viewers, of which 1,955 have gone to theaters this year.

The set of candidates for best film at the Goya Awards, which are held on February 11 in Seville, add up to a total of 9.6 million euros at the box office and more than 1.6 million viewers. But the four highest-grossing Spanish films so far are Tadeo Jones 3. The Emerald Table, which exceeds 11.8 million euros at the box office; followed by A todo tren 2, with more than 6 million euros; The fourth passenger, with 4.3 million euros and As bestas, the only one nominated for a Goya, with 4.18 million euros.
