The state bonus on the price of metropolitan public transport continues. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Wednesday that the State will continue to reduce intercity ticket prices by 30%. In the case of Barcelona and its metropolitan area, this means that the discounts will remain as they have been until now. Specifically, on Autoritat del Transport Metropolitana (ATM) tickets there will continue to be a 50% discount on T-usual and T-jove passes. The rest of the tickets will not have a price reduction. At the same time, Sánchez confirmed that the Rodalies service will continue to be free for recurring users.

“The contribution of the general administration of the State to the Autonomous Communities of 30% of intercity ticket rates is extended throughout the year,” said Sánchez after the last Council of Ministers of the year. “Conditional, as until now, that these regional governments contribute at least 20% to achieve that minimum 50% discount,” he clarified.

A few days ago, the board of directors of the ATM – a consortium participated by the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area – already announced that it would also maintain its 20% discount corresponding to the T-usual a and the T -jove, considered passes that promote the recurring use of public transport.

At the same time, the ATM agreed to update the general rates with a price increase of 6.75% after being frozen since 2020.

On the other hand, the Government also gave the green light to continue for one year with the free service for recurring users of Cercanías, Rodalies, conventional Media Distancia and state-owned bus lines.
