This Monday the gigantic An-124 from Antonov Airlines, the cargo aviation giant, came to Barcelona. It arrived very early today in El Prat from the United States and I was able to photograph it later when it took off, as we see in this report in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.
During its takeoff I photographed it flying over Gavà beach, where we saw the gigantic Antonov leaving his trails in the sky with his presentation.
It has been a long time since this giant of freight transport came to Barcelona and what a pleasure to see it again and be able to enjoy its majesty.
Not in vain is it the largest cargo plane currently operational. It is similar to the American Lockheed C-5 Galaxy, but slightly larger.
To get an idea of ??their size, An-124s have been used to transport locomotives, yachts, aircraft fuselages and other types of large cargo.
The plane can be tilted to facilitate the entry of cargo. A military An-124 can carry up to 150 tons of cargo. It can also carry up to 88 passengers on an upper deck behind the cabin.
