The Solsona judge has decreed provisional prison, communicated and without bail for three men between 40 and 49 years old accused of the assault on a bank in Oliana (Alt Urgell) last summer using the bruton method.

The arrest took place this Monday, January 15, in the Zaragoza town of Villanueva de Gállego when the individuals were preparing to commit a robbery, according to the Mossos.

The men are accused of robbery with force and intimidation, damage, illegal detention and membership in a criminal group. The police believe that they located the bank offices in towns with few inhabitants and settled in adjacent premises to prepare the assault.

The suspects were already arrested in 2022 by the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Benicàssim (Castellón) when they were preparing to rob a banking establishment using a button.

Subsequently, the assault on the Oliana bank (Lleida) using the same modus operandi alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra and allowed the creation of a joint operation, reports the armed institute.

The events in Oliana took place on July 26, 2023, when two of the butroneros entered the interior of a bank with knives and threatened the workers after starting their workday.

They entered through a burglary in an adjacent building and, after obtaining the loot, they immobilized the employees and fled the scene.

Based on the testimonies of the victims, and thanks to the collaboration with the security department of the bank, the investigators managed to determine the home of one of the criminals in Llíria (Valencia).

Thanks to police investigations, it was learned that the perpetrators had been controlling bank offices in towns in the provinces of Valencia, Castellón, Girona, Cuenca and Zaragoza.
