The autumn atmosphere is palpable and felt in Campdevànol, in Ripollès, walking along the banks of the Freser river, as seen in this series of photographs in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

The Freser stands out for being the most important tributary of Pyrenean origin that goes to the Ter. The river rises between Fresers peak and Bastiments peak.

During industrialization in Catalonia, it was one of the first rivers that was exploited to take advantage of its power to generate electricity at the beginning of the 19th century.

With this, after the mining stage, the paper and textile industry developed strongly in the Ripollès, taking advantage of the flows of the Freser, the Rigard and the Segadell.

A good starting point for the route through the Freser in Campdevànol is the Plaza de la Dansa. The walk continues along the banks of the river, downstream, to the Font del Tòtil, where there is a large covered square and a children’s playground.

The route along the Freser River is full of trees (in summer, they offer shade and, in autumn, a shower of leaves), it is very calm and dotted with fountains.
