The Locomía group has a story behind it that is worth telling. In fact, in 2022 a three-episode documentary about them premiered on Movistar, but that’s not all. Now comes the film Disco, Ibiza, Locomía, directed by Kike Maillo and starring actors such as Jaime Lorente, Alberto Ammann, Alejandro Speitzer and Blanca Suárez. Recently, the premiere of the production took place, which was attended by Xavier Font, one of the founders of the group.
The truth is that the film has arrived at a delicate personal moment for him, as he has been diagnosed with cancer. He has spoken about this naturally, and in an interview before the Europa Press microphones, he explained the reason why he has decided to make his illness public.
“I said it because we have to remove the taboo of cancer a little. “I have prostate cancer, it is better to be there than somewhere else,” he began by saying. It was then that the reporter told him that by giving visibility, recognized faces help some people. “We have to give visibility, that is, I don’t have a problem, I’m happy, I’m going to remove a part of my organ that doesn’t work and it’s over, and I’m going to continue, I’m in time,” said the artist.
“You rise from difficulties. I am happy and I feel good, and I am going to get through this too, as I have been through so many things. In this life you have to fight, always. I am a fighter. I have done it with that idea, so that people understand that we are here and that I am going to continue, there is no more,” he stated, making it clear to everyone that he does not contemplate the option of giving up or being sad in these moments, in which He feels well despite his illness.
It was in 1983 when the band’s history began. Xavier Font traveled to Ibiza with his boyfriend, Manolo Arjona. The couple attended KU every night, a nightclub full of debauchery. There, a Dutchman who also fell in love with Font. Then, a love triangle was formed, joined by Luis, Xavi’s brother. This is how the group was formed.
