The fresh country air is the perfect escape from the concentrated heat of the cities. For this, Les Basses de Gallissà, a natural area located in the left channel of the Segre river and a few kilometers from Bellver de Cerdanya, has everything to enjoy a full day with the family.

This humid area of ??the region of La Cerdanya is made up of three rafts (Tirons, Encantades and Estancades) that are part of the Ribera del Alt Segre Partial Nature Reserve. Joan Soldevila, visited this natural landscape and has shared his experience with these photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The protected area of ??Les Basses de Gallissà was inaugurated in 2002 as a site recovery project and as a new habitat for the aquatic avifauna of this area of ??La Cerdanya.

Today, the route of this humid area is perfectly equipped to be a tourist attraction. There are two possible itineraries of 700 meters and 1.5 kilometers, respectively. Both are of low difficulty, and the longest does not exceed one hour of travel. In addition, Les Basses de Tirons, Encantades and Estancades are signposted and have access adapted for wheelchairs.

Among the activities that can be carried out: the sighting of otters, the great protagonist of these humid forests; and the observation of storks from a small viewpoint, thanks to a reintroduction program for this species.

The observatory is located on top of a hill to the west of the space, in the Serrat de Gallissà, and allows a panoramic view of the place to be enjoyed at the feet of the visitor. For those who prefer a flat path, they can also enjoy the Ribera Cerdà forest and its native vegetation.

The legend of this peculiar place says that, when passing the Bassa de les Encantades, you have to look closely around in case you see a fairy doing the laundry. Well, if you take a sheet, you will get a fortune for a lifetime.

Getting to Les Basses de Gallissà is easy. After leaving Bellver in the direction of the town of Pi, take a detour to the right and follow the signs until the end of the route, which can also be done on foot. In the parking lot there is a picnic area with tables available to visitors.
