VfB Stuttgart footballer Atakan Karazor is one of two 25-year-old Germans arrested for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old girl this week in Ibiza. VfB Stuttgart has confirmed in a statement the arrest of the Bundesliga footballer while he was on vacation on the island, but at no time does it refer to the reasons.

The club did not say why the 25-year-old, who joined Stuttgart in 2019 and played in 24 league games last season, had been arrested or whether he had been charged with specific offences.

“Atakan Karazor was arrested while on holiday in Ibiza,” the club reported.

“He denies any illegal action. VfB is in constant contact with his lawyers. As this is an ongoing case, the club will not comment further on the matter at this time.”

The Peripheral Communication Office (OPC) of the Civil Guard Command in the Balearic Islands reported yesterday the admission to provisional prison of two 25-year-old Germans, whose identity was not disclosed, accused of allegedly raping an 18-year-old Spanish girl years.

It was not until late in the evening when it emerged that one of the alleged attackers is a professional soccer player from the Bundesliga, the first division of German soccer.

According to the armed institute, the sexual assault would have occurred on Wednesday morning in a villa near the Cova Santa nightclub, where the alleged aggressors were staying, located in the municipality of Sant Josep.

The young woman, who has denounced the two men for rape, went to the Can Misses Ibiza hospital to receive medical assistance and undergo the tests established for victims of sexual assault.

The two young Germans were arrested on Thursday in the same town of Sant Josep and were handed over to the Investigating Court number 4 on guard duties, which decreed the entry of both into prison.
