The Andalusian forest firefighting service, the Infoca Plan, has stabilized the urban fire in the area of ??Santa Margarita, in the municipality of La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz). This has been reported by Infoca on its social networks, where it has detailed that the fire has stabilized at 7:22 p.m. Infoca troops continue to work on the ground together with three crews from the Fire Department Consortium in the Province of Cádiz.
This fire, declared around 12:30 p.m. this Tuesday, has been affected by the west wind, which is registering gusts of 50 km/h and which is expected to continue for the rest of the afternoon. However, the fire has experienced little evolution in its main career due to the arrival of the beach, a non-combustible area.
The fire started in the urban area of ??Santa Margarita, which has caused the residents of the Venta Melchor urbanization to abandon their homes due to the proximity of the flames. In this regard, the La Línea City Council has activated its emergency plan to provide affected residents with accommodation if necessary.
Infoca, together with members of the La Línea, San Roque and Algeciras firefighters, have been working with land and air means to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest. Specifically, three aerial vehicles (two medium-heavy helicopters and one superpuma) have been involved in this fire, as well as two cargo planes on the ground, one for coordination and two amphibians from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
By land, six groups of forest firefighters have met, two Fire Reinforcement brigades (Brica), three Operations technicians, an environmental agent, two fire trucks, a bulldozer, an advanced Fire Analysis and Monitoring unit and a Medical Unit of Forest Fires.
