More than a dozen fire crews are working overtime to put out a fire that broke out at 8:10 a.m. this Sunday in a waste storage company located at the AZ1 dock of the Port of Bilbao, in the municipality of Zierbena, without any have recorded injuries.
Although the fire is controlled, eliminating the risk of spread to other neighboring companies, the extinguishing of the fire is expected to take a long time because there was a lot of material in the waste warehouse.
The smoke is not toxic and does not pose any danger to the population. And although the wind has pushed the column towards the sea, the incident does not affect the port’s activity. The entry of ships to the facilities and the work of the staff is proceeding normally.
The thick black smoke caused can be seen from different locations in Biscay.
