The last novel that Mercè Rodoreda published in his lifetime, Quanta, quanta guerra, has been turned into a theater piece at the initiative of the actor Biel Rossell, who sought the complicity of the Farrés Brothers and the CIA and can now be seen at the Tantarantana theater.
This young actor read it during the pandemic and wanted to take it to the theater. With Pep Farrés, who directed it, they adapted it and premiered it in Igualada. Now, it can be seen in the gallery on Calle Flors in Barcelona, ??until October 2.
Biel Rossell is Adrià Guinart, a young man who, at just fifteen years old, runs away from home to go to war, from which he will also end up running away. Rossell is accompanied by Biel Serena, who now acts as an actor on stage and now performs a musical piece or provides a sound effect from a table on the stage itself.
The production of Farrés Brothers i Cia immerses the viewer in this closed circle in which the protagonist finds himself. But the public never hears a text extracted from a novel resonate, but it does hear how his words resonate with the grandiose natural simplicity with which Rodoreda wrote them.
Shadows, puppets, objects and live music have just made up this vital story, which moves the public without falling into any cheap sentimentality. Youth on the surface and the war that contaminates everything form a show that deserves a visit to Tantarantana.
Quanta, quanta guerra… is a show selected by Novaveu within the framework of the Visionaris project that is part of the Tantarantana Theater Community Program as a creative factory.
