The City Council of Espluga de Francolí (Conca de Barberà) will raise water rates. In the next plenary session, the council is expected to approve the modification of the fiscal ordinance regulating the water supply rate, which includes price increases and three new rates, one industrial, one social and one municipal.

The review of the price of water is one of the actions contemplated in the Pla Director d’Abastament del Servei Municipal de l’Aigua approved unanimously in 2020. The plan’s main objectives are to harmonize the price of water with the rest of the municipalities and support the cost of the service.

The social tariff, which is one of the main changes, will make it possible to guarantee coverage of basic water needs and establish a canon value adapted to the vulnerability situations of the less favored population.

With the new criteria, the council will benefit part of the first 9 cubic meters and its price will be 0.40 euros/m3. From that volume, the rest will be increased with the common rate, but only for the cubic meters used, without minimum consumption. This rate will apply from the fourth quarter of this year.

The price for municipal use will be settled per real cubic meter consumed, based on 0.10 euros/m3. With regard to the increase in the fiscal ordinance regulating water. This will have an increase of 15.75%, going from 0.4634 euros per cubic meter to 0.55 in the chaos of the usual rate, and to 0.6 in the rate for industrial use, for the section from 0 to 18 cubic meters. In the section from 18 to 36 m3, it will go from 0.5891 euros to 0.7 in the domestic rate and 0.8 in the industrial rate, among other modifications.
