A week ago today, Spain lost one of the greatest communicators in history. In the early morning of September 5, the legendary television presenter María Teresa Campos died at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation Hospital. The mother of Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego had been admitted two days earlier due to acute respiratory failure. After more than 40 hours fighting to get ahead, her body couldn’t take it anymore.

Although the presenter of successful programs such as Lo que interTeresa, Every day, What a happy time, etc., was going through some difficult months in which she had lost cognitive faculties and her health was delicate, no one expected her end to come. so soon, since a couple of months ago he had turned 82 years old.

The Campos family has handled the loss and grief in the best way possible. Her daughters and her granddaughter Alejandra Rubio, affected but strong, have been connected to some television programs to thank all the media coverage and the hours of broadcast dedicated to the person popularly known as ‘the queen of the mornings’.

The lifeless body of the matriarch of the Campos clan was taken to the La Paz funeral home, located in the Madrid town of Tres Cantos, a place where important figures from the small screen, politics, journalism, etc., of our country traveled. to say goodbye: Pedro Sánchez, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Iñaki Gabilondo, Lydia Lozano, Laura Fa, Paz Padilla, Ana Rosa Quintana, etc.

After all the deployment in Madrid, last Monday a mass was celebrated in honor of the journalist in Malaga, a city that welcomed the communicator from a very young age (and which she considered her hometown). At said Eucharist, her daughter Terelu decided to read a very emotional speech about her mother, which touched everyone present.

After thanking the councilors of the Junta de Andalucía and the mayor of the city for their assistance, the collaborator spoke some very nice words. ”In this part of the trip, our mother perhaps looks into a part of memory in which life, suddenly, places you in front of a mirror through which memories pass (…) She had a program in the radio that titled Women 72. There she was, fighting for equality, for a feminism that she defended tooth and nail (…) It was never comfortable or correct. Before she was Campos she was many things (…) ”.

”He loved his family without limit, his nephews, his five brothers…” said Alejandra Rubio’s mother before ending her intervention and emotionally taking refuge in the arms of her sister Carmen Borrego.

The loss of María Teresa Campos has left an irreplaceable legacy in our country. The Andalusian communicator was a pioneer in the audiovisual sector in Spain and marked the path of many other colleagues who arrived later.

The farewell of the communicator and the massive reaction of the Spanish people has been a perfect example of the great impact that Campos had on our society. It should also be noted that there are hundreds of people in the world of journalism and communication who have her as a reference, since she changed the course of the small screen.
