The first swallow of the season has already arrived in Altet, in the Urgell region. I have been able to photograph it flying for this report in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos, although not very clearly.

The common or common swallow (Hirundo rustica) is a gregarious bird, that is, they have an inclination to form large groups, which is why it is even more striking that this solitary specimen arrived first in the town of Altet.

They often even nest in colonies. And during the migration season, many swallows form in large groups of thousands of specimens.

The first specimens usually arrive in Catalonia around March, but the bulk of the population usually comes in April or May, and returns to Africa in October.

Therefore, not only is this solitary swallow striking, but also the fact that it was already seen in the month of February. Everything is changing in this spring-like winter.
