As can be seen in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia, luckily there is a lot of water in Sant Joan Les Fonts, in a context of drought in Catalonia, although the fields of Plana de Vic continue to be very dry, dying of thirst.

Until 1949, Sant Joan Les Fonts was known as Begudà, it is the second largest municipality in La Garrotxa. Its first population center was created in the 9th century, although most of those first houses collapsed with the earthquakes of 1427 and 1428.

In addition, between 1936 and 1937, the municipality was called Fuentes de Begudà due to the revolutionary context against the hagiotoponym.

Sant Joan Les Fonts is located at the point of confluence that unites Girona with Olot, Figueres and Camprodon. Industry is the most developed sector in the municipality.

The Fluvià river is crossed by a 13th century medieval bridge built with volcanic stone. It joins the town with the new church of Sant Joan Baptista, also built with the same type of stone and which gives it that almost black, dark gray colour.
