The passage of the DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) or cold drop through the center of the country has wreaked havoc. At least two people have died in Toledo and another two have disappeared in Madrid due to downpours, which overflowed rivers, flooded roads and seriously affected infrastructure such as highways, bridges and train tracks.

The Toledo town of Casarrubios del Monte is this Monday dismayed by the death of a 20-year-old boy who was trapped in an elevator, due to the Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA).

Municipal sources have shown EFE their regret over the death of this young man and have assured that the situation in Casarrubios is “a disaster”, with the town – of about 5,400 inhabitants – without mobile phone service, among other damage.

In statements to EFE, the mayor of this municipality, Marco Antonio Pleite, has assured that the situation in the town, of about 10,000 inhabitants, is “horrible and a disaster”, since many houses have been flooded and there has even been a landslide. walls and walls, both municipal and private.

“We are dejected,” stressed Pleite, who assured that the neighbors “have not slept all night because they have been paying attention to the rains and their consequences” in the town, where members of the Local Police, Civil Protection, and volunteers are currently working. , the councilor, councilors and City Hall staff, which has received “a multitude of calls” due to the heavy rains.

Pleite has asserted: “We can’t keep up. We don’t stop helping the neighbors. Although the situation in the town center is already under control.”

In this sense, he has regretted the death of a man on the A-40 in the municipality of Bargas, although he has pointed out that the identity of the individual is still unknown and he does not consider that he is a resident of the town.

The mayor has advanced that he will ask to hold a meeting with the Government of Castilla-La Mancha to request the area seriously affected by the damage that has occurred in the town.
