Looking for clouds to catch the rain. This is how I define this photograph in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia of this cypress that I captured in Igualada, in the region of Anoia, in the midst of this persistent drought in Catalonia.
Evergreen cypresses can reach 20 meters in height with an approximate diameter of 60 cm. As seen in the image, their shape is pyramidal, stretching towards the sky as if they really wanted to get into the clouds, shake them and make it rain.
They are fast-growing trees in the first years of life, although they slow down later. Of course, they can reach 300 years of life.
They have a straight trunk and thin bark. Its leaves are very small. These trees, characteristic of cemeteries, bloom at the end of winter.
It is also not strange that the cypress wants it to rain too, because rainwater suits it very well, since it is gentler on the roots of the tree.
