It didn’t come as a surprise. Julia Llopis, Councilor for Social Action of the Alicante City Council, today resigned from her position and leaves the government team she has been part of since she was elected in 2019 as a PP candidate to try to get a seat as a deputy in the Cortes Valencians within the lists of Vox.

And it is not surprising because even before being recruited by the mayor Luis Barcala to join his project, it was learned that the leader of the Concapa – the confederation of parent associations of the concerted one – had held talks with the far-right formation. This harmony with Vox has also been revealed on several occasions, when Mario Ortolá, spokesman for Santiago Abascal’s party in the municipal plenary session, has defended his management against criticism from the left, with more emphasis than members of his own group. .

This weekend, after learning that Barcala, while he was adding independents to his next electoral list, considered it amortized, Llopis wasted no time and attended a Vox event. And in statements to Radio Alicante he has confirmed this morning what was an open secret, that he is going to join his candidacy for the Corts.

Llopis clarifies that “the Popular Party is not my enemy”, and that it could not share some things “just as I will not share some with Vox either, sharing everything is very difficult in politics”, however, when verifying that the PP did not have it, it has accepted the extreme right’s proposal because “I identified with them at the moment, they believed in me, and that they value me is very positive; to those who believe in me and value me, I will give everything I can”.

Llopis will resign from the PP, a party he joined after having participated in the last municipal elections as number 3 on his list, and it is still unknown what place he will occupy in Vox’s regional candidacy. Luis Barcala has transferred his powers in Social Action to Toño Peral and those of Education and Health to María del Carmen Spain, two of his trusted councillors.
