The meeting held in Madrid between representatives of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Alicante City Council and Adif has allowed progress with a principle of agreement to determine the conditions of transfer and use of the land affected by the works of the future Alicante intermodal station, according to reports the Generalitat in a statement.

The parties will now work on the documents that will include the conditions for the free transfer of use of public and patrimonial soil and subsoil of the land affected by the works, always in accordance with the legal framework.

This meeting, a continuation of the one held last November, was attended by the regional secretary of Infrastructure and Transport, Vicente Dómine, the managing director of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), Alfonso Novo, the councilor for Mobility, Carlos de Juan, and the director of Adif Heritage, Alfredo Cabello.

The three administrations are scheduled to meet again in February to finalize the final content of the agreement.

The Minister of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, Salomé Pradas, has highlighted that “we continue working to reach an agreement in the best conditions that allow the execution of the great project that involves the construction of the Intermodal station, the true heart of transport in Alicante, for which it is today the fourth province in Spain in terms of mobility and a large tourist and industrial hub.”

Pradas explained that “we continue to make progress in the project” and highlighted that the will of the parties is for the works to be awarded “as soon as possible and as soon as the transfer of the land is available.”

Likewise, he has expressed that the Generalitat and the Alicante City Council give the project “great importance”, as demonstrated by “the budget of 130 million euros that will be allocated so that the coast and the metropolitan area have a direct connection high-speed with the TRAM – and in the future with the Mediterranean Corridor -, which connects the two Marinas, the Vinalopó Cercanías, and the Alicante and Murcia Cercanías, which must be improved, including the airport station.
