CAtalunya en Comú has ratified this Monday the president of the commons parliamentary group in the Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, as a candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat for the May 12 elections. The ratification comes after Albiach was the only candidate to appear in the internal primary process, for which she collected a total of 1,057 endorsements, well above the 250 necessary to attend.

Albiach will therefore be the candidate of the commons for the second consecutive time with the mission of improving the eight deputies that the party had until now in the Parliament and trying to enter the future Government of the Generalitat.

In his speech at the executive council meeting this Monday, Albiach pointed out what the basic lines of the electoral campaign will be, which will focus on highlighting the management of the Executive of Pere Aragonès, who “will only be remembered for his failures.” and for the break with Junts”, in confronting the country model that Junts represents and that “ERC and the PSC often assume”, and in attacking the polarization that former president Puigdemont intends with his commitment to the “restitution” of his presidency. “What must be restored is the future, not the past,” said Albiach.

“These elections are a plebiscite on the country model, not on Carles Puigdemont. In these elections we are at stake for the present and future of Catalonia,” the leader warned, after pointing out that the next elections come after a “legislature of process “, built on “old inertia” and the “lack of leadership of the Government and Aragonès, which has been erratic every time it has had to face a crisis”, he criticized.

Albiach has indicated that he will not ask for a vote “against anyone”, but will campaign positively, in favor of the beginning of a new era with more well-being, more ecological planning, more self-government and “a new unique financing system for everyone.” the Catalans”, he added, a proposal in line with that proposed by ERC and Aragonès, although with nuances.

In this way, the party is open to exploring the possibility of Catalonia obtaining financing that does not strictly obey the common regime, as until now, although they have always indicated that to carry out this approach, it would first be necessary to have an agreement from all the Catalan forces, gathered around a dialogue table between parties.

Albiach has vindicated his work and that of his group in the Parliament during this term, emphasizing that they have been “capable of influencing Catalan politics and being one of the most important actors this term”, but also of “standing up” when he has been necessary, as in the case of the latest Catalan budgets. “We know how to make agreements, politics is dialogue, negotiation and agreement, but at the same time we never lose sight of the values ??and principles that have brought us here. We are very clear about the interests of those we represent, the common, hard-working people, we do not “We never take the wrong side,” he highlighted.
