The College of Nursing of the University of Barcelona (UB) now acquires the rank of faculty. The center will have a volume of 530 students, 369 members of the teaching and research staff and 150 members of the administration and services staff. In some cases, they will be shared with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
As explained by the UB in a statement, the autonomy of the new center will increase the professional prestige and academic identity of nurses and reinforce the image of the profession internationally.
The UB currently graduates 20% of the nursing staff in Catalonia, so that it is the university with the highest percentage of the entire Catalan university system.
In this new Faculty of Nursing, the Nursing degree, three university master’s degrees and 14 own master’s and postgraduate degrees will be taught, in addition to the doctoral program in Nursing and Health, interuniversity with the Rovira y Virgilio University, coordinated by the UB.
