The children of San Ildefonso participating in raffles will receive a scholarship of 125,000 euros

Former students of San Ildefonso participating in draws carried out by State Lotteries and Gambling will be eligible for 125,000 euros from the Madrid City Council in the form of scholarships and study aid, as stated in the decree of Social Policies, Family and Equality, José Fernández.

It is the materialization of the agreement signed between the City Council of the capital and the State Lottery and State Betting Society. The scholarships are aimed at former students of the San Ildefonso Boarding Residence and the San Ildefonso public school, provided that in the latter case they have participated in the raffles.

The objective is “to promote, at the end of Primary Education, the continuation of their studies in the later levels of the educational system,” says the decree, consulted by Europa Press. In order to obtain the scholarship or aid, it will be necessary to have passed the immediately preceding academic year, 2022/2023), with some exceptions.

It will be necessary to enroll in the 2023-2024 academic year at least 50 percent of the subjects of the course in which the applicant is enrolled. In public centers they will go to the established rates while in private ones they will focus on tuition aid or voluntary contributions but without exceeding 2,000 euros. In subsidized programs, fees paid for regulated education or voluntary contributions are provided for the cost of enrollment, provided that the eligible amount does not exceed 360 euros.

Aid will also be provided for educational material necessary for the studies carried out. The amount for university studies and master’s will be 600 euros and for the rest of 400.

The Colegio de San Ildefonso is the oldest institution dedicated to children in Madrid, with more than 400 years of life. For two centuries, students have been singing the numbers of the National Lottery: the first draw in which they participated was on March 9, 1771.
