The genetic analyzes carried out on the two bodies found on September 4 and 5 in the waters of the southeast of Mallorca correspond to the sailors, father and son, who disappeared on August 27 when their boat capsized on a voyage between Menorca and Mallorca.
The Civil Guard reported this Monday the confirmation of suspicions about the identity of the bodies recovered by agents from the Group of Underwater Activities Specialists (GEAS) in Cala Barca and Porto Cristo.
The bodies were found a week after the German father and son left Cala Galdana, in Menorca, for Cala d’Or, in Mallorca, on August 27.
That Sunday, an intense storm occurred in the Balearic Islands that surprised the two sailors in the midst of crossing between the two islands aboard the Makan Angin sailboat.
In collaboration with the German police, the Biology Department of the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard, based in Madrid, has identified the bodies by comparing them with the genetic profiles sent by the authorities of the victims’ country of origin.
