The ninth edition of the Cacau d’Or Awards yesterday decorated ten new gastronomic enclaves in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón as the best temples of ‘esmorzar’ in the Valencian Community.

These awards have been recognizing the locals and people who contribute to keeping this tradition alive since 2015 and also have a special prize, the Cacau d’Or Amstel, which went to Ca Rakel, a venue located in Los Poblats Marítims de València. , with a version of the “Almussafes” sandwich after the contest’s proposal to reinvent a classic Valencian lunch. Their winning proposal had horse meat, sobrasada sauce with rosemary honey, bacon, cheese and mayonnaise.

In addition to the award, obtained from more than 150 applicants, the business receives 1,000 euros in branded products and the promotion of the establishment by Amstel as well as the decoration of its bar, for a value of 3,000 euros.

With the support of Amstel, Delicious Valencia and Visit Valencia, the digital community “Lunch Culture” celebrated this edition of the awards yesterday afternoon in the Crystal Hall of the Valencia City Council.

By province, in Castellón, the Cacau d’Or Awards have distinguished the Bar Uvi Segorbe (Castellón), for its homemade cuisine and its specialties such as battered eggplants or coffee mixtures. Also in Castellón, Torrador el Barull has received another award “thanks to the combination of products and customs rooted in Castellón with a good atmosphere and a spectacular carajillo.”

Finally, Venta Guillamón, an old Castellón inn where wines and tools were sold, has also won one of the awards, a bar that, after several generations, has become one of the most appreciated in La Plana.

In Alicante, Un cuiner a l’escoleta (Sagra) has been awarded for its cocas, which can be tasted in the middle of the mountains. And El Campús (Denia), an establishment at the foot of Montgó, has won “for its cosmopolitan lunches”, which are combined with the most traditional cuisine and what they define as “the best potato omelette in La Marina Alta.”

Added to this, also in Denia, is a decoration for a way of having lunch known as “market lunch”: the interaction between the producer and seller of its municipal market with the hotelier has elevated Bonanza, Nagallanes to the altars. , Viciano and Papua, which have been recognized with a Cacau d’Or.

Already in Valencia, the Cacau d’Or have awarded Gastro Trinquet, a gastronomic group that has two emblematic establishments where lunch is offered (Casa Baldo 1915 and Pelayo Gastro Trinquet), with the Valencian pilota as the common thread.

Els Arcs (L’Alcúdia) has also received a Cacau d’Or for the quality of its food and its ability to improve in just two years, when they started. Tabick (Llombai) has also been recognized for “the quality of its products”, all locally sourced, and the use of embers in its preparations and cutting of quality meat.
