The best plan to discover your city and its bars (and win prizes)

Our cities are much more than a collection of buildings and streets. They are an opportunity to live experiences: visiting them, exploring them and discovering their infinite possibilities. Those that also value gastronomy, leisure and local talent. There is an emotional connection of citizens with the businesses, shops and plans that surround them. Support for proximity that fosters local pride.

This enjoyment of what is close, of what is ours, is what celebrates and promotes “Magnificent Cities”, the initiative of Magna de San Miguel that returns, one more year, with the purpose of inviting us to live our cities passionately, to discover each day what makes them great. Barcelona has been in charge of giving the starting signal. It will not be alone, Bilbao, Burgos, Lérida, Málaga, Pamplona, ??San Sebastián and Valencia will accompany it in a second phase at the end of the year.

“Magnificent Cities” is an invitation for authentic and restless people to dare to rediscover their city, knowing and enjoying the small places, corners and plans that surround them and that make the place where they live great every day. Because in the smallest there is always the greatest. More than 500 establishments and more than 14,000 participated in this adventure in the previous edition. But the Magna de San Miguel initiative continues to grow and there are already more than 800 bars, 140 shops and various spaces that have wanted to join it to help make their city more “magnificent” than ever.

The story works like this: by consuming one of the beers from the Magna de San Miguel range in one of the bars, you will have the chance to win different prizes through a pincode or a scratch card that is included on the label of each beer and that is uploaded to the “Magnificent Cities” website. Instantly, you will know if you have won a voucher with an amount of €50 or €100 to spend in the shops and bars participating in the campaign. And there is more, because there is also the possibility of getting tickets to enjoy different leisure experiences in the city, such as attending festivals or plays.

This new edition of “Magnificent Cities” is premiering and comes with two novelties. The first is the Magnificent Innkeeper, a figure that will be awarded in each city for his charisma, his commitment and his commitment to local products: for being a benchmark in local gastronomy. The second is the Ruta del Platillo Magnífico, where, in different bars and restaurants in the city (Magna de San Miguel outlets), consumers will be able to discover, vote for and enjoy dishes inspired by the essence of the city and paired with beer. The most voted by consumers and by a professional jury will be awarded.

From June 8 to July 2, more than 120 bars and 26 shops in the city have participated in the Magna de San Miguel initiative, whose first prize for Magnificent Hotelier has gone to Toni Betorz and son, owners from the mythical bar El Tomás de Sarrià, an institution in Barcelona (since 1929 in the heart of the emblematic Sarrià neighborhood) and popularly known for its famous patatas bravas, considered by many to be “the best in Barcelona”. Chef Jordi Cruz was in charge of presenting them with the award.

Around 60 are the gastronomic establishments, bars and restaurants that participate in Barcelona in the Ruta del Platillo Magnífico. Among them, El Tomás de Sarrià (Major de Sarrià, 49), Montesquiu (Mandri, 56), Casa Fernández y Gimlet (Santaló, 46), the Txalaparta brewery (Sants, 383), El Puestu (Ribes, 39), Metric (Av. Diagonal, 503) or Casa Marcelino (Diputació, 350).

In its commitment to local culture and gastronomy, Cervezas San Miguel wants to strengthen the commercial and socioeconomic fabric of cities to continue growing together. For more than 133 years, the brand has always been one step ahead in the creation of proposals and beer experiences that invite people to broaden their horizons and live passionately.
